أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ عِيسَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ :" كَمْ مِنْ صَائِمٍ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْ صِيَامِهِ إِلَّا الظَّمَأُ، وَكَمْ مِنْ قَائِمٍ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْ قِيَامِهِ إِلَّا السَّهَرُ "
Ishaq bin Issa informed us, on the authority of Abd al-Rahman bin Abi al-Zinad, on the authority of Amr bin Abi Amr, on the authority of Sa`id al-Maqbari, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “How many fasting people have nothing from their fasting except thirst, and how many people standing have nothing to gain from their fasting except thirst.” Except staying up late.”
