The 'Rabbana' and 'Rabbi' duas described in the Qur'an refer to the duas taught by Allah Ta'ala to different Prophets-Messengers, righteous believers and angels in different situations or spoken by them in the Holy Qur'an. Most of these Duar are 'Rabbana' (O Our Lord!) or beginning with the words 'Rabbi' (O my Lord!). Hence these are known as 'Rabbana/Rabbi Dua'.
On the authority of Shahr Ibn Hawshab (RA), he said, I said to Umm Salamah (RA), O Ummul Mu'minin, which dua did the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recite most of the time when he was with you? He said, he used to recite this dua most of the time. Hazrat Ummu Salamah (RA) said, I said, O Messenger of Allah! Why do you recite dua most of the time? He said: O Umm Salamah! There is no such person whose mind is not between the two fingers of Allah Ta'ala. He makes whomever He wills steady (on religion). And leads astray whom He wills. Then he recited the verse of the Quran.
