Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #26802

Abu Amr, Muslim bin Amr, Al-Hudha’ Al-Madani, told us. Abdullah bin Nafi’ Al-Sayegh told us, on the authority of Muhammad bin Salih Al-Tamar, on the authority of Ibn Shihab, on the authority of Sa’id ibn al-Musayyab, on the authority of Attab ibn Asid, that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, used to send to the people those who would lie to them. With this chain of transmission, the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said regarding the zakat on vineyards, “It should be harvested just as palm trees are harvested, then it should be paid.” His zakat is paid on raisins just as the zakat on palm trees is paid on dates.” Abu Issa said, “This is a good and strange hadith.” Ibn Jurayj narrated this. The hadith on the authority of Ibn Shihab, on the authority of Urwa, on the authority of Aisha. I asked Muhammad about this hadith, and he said: The hadith of Ibn Jurayj is not preserved, but it is a hadith. Ibn al-Musayyab, on the authority of Attab ibn Asid, is more proven and more authentic.
