Hadith #27312
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ كَانَ زَوْجُ بَرِيرَةَ عَبْدًا فَخَيَّرَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَاخْتَارَتْ نَفْسَهَا وَلَوْ كَانَ حُرًّا لَمْ يُخَيِّرْهَا ‏.‏
Ali bin Hajar told us, Jarir bin Abdul Hamid told us, on the authority of Hisham bin Urwa, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Aisha, she said: He was the husband of Barira was a slave, so the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, gave her a choice, and she chose herself, and if he had been free, he would not have given her a choice.
