Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28109

Qutaibah narrated to us, Yahya bin Ya’la narrated to us, on the authority of Nasih, on the authority of Samak bin Harb, on the authority of Jabir bin Samurah, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “It is better for a man to discipline his son than to give a sa’ in charity.” Abu Issa said: This is a strange hadith. And a sincere advisor is Ibn Al-Ala. Kufi is not considered strong by the people of hadith, and this hadith is only known from this source, and another sheikh Basri narrates on the authority of Ammar. Ibn Abi Ammar and others are more proven than this.
