Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29058

Muhammad bin Bashar narrated to us, he said, Yahya bin Saeed narrated to us, he said, Yazid bin Kaysan narrated to us, he said, Abu Hazim narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, He said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Gather together, for I will recite to you a third of the Qur’an.” He said, so he gathered those who had gathered and then left. The Prophet of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, recited (Say, “He is God, One”), then he entered and we said to each other. The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said, “Then I will recite.” A third of the Qur’an is upon you. “Indeed, I see that this is news that came from the sky. Then the Prophet of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, came out and said, “I I said, “I will recite to you a third of the Qur’an.” Indeed, it is equivalent to a third of the Qur’an.
