Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29034

So each man among them recited what he knew of the Qur’an, and he came to a man among them who was younger in age and said, “What do you have, O so-and-so?” He said, “I have such-and-such and Surat Al-Baqarah.” He said, “Do you have Surat Al-Baqarah?” He said, “Yes.” He said, “Then go, for you are their leader.” "So he said A man from among their nobles. By God, O Messenger of God, nothing prevented me from learning Surat Al-Baqarah except the fear that I would not do it. So the Messenger of God said May God’s prayers and peace be upon him, “Learn the Qur’an, so recite it and recite it, for the likeness of the Qur’an to one who learns it, reads it, and performs it is like a sock.” “It is stuffed with musk, and its scent spreads everywhere, and it is like one who learns it, and it lies in its interior like a sock that has been leaned on musk.” Abu said. Jesus, this is a good hadith. It was narrated by Al-Layth bin Saad, on the authority of Sa’id Al-Maqbari, on the authority of Ata’, the servant of Abu Ahmad, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.
