Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29266

Muhammad bin Abdul-Ala al-San’ani told us, Khalid bin al-Harith told us, Shu’bah told us, Adi bin Thabit told me, and Ata bin Al-Sa’ib, on the authority of Sa’id bin Jubayr, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, one of them mentioned, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, that he mentioned “that Gabriel, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him He began to put clay in Pharaoh’s mouth out of fear that he would say, “There is no god but God” and that God would have mercy on him, or out of fear that God would have mercy on him. Jesus, this is a good and authentic hadith that is strange from this perspective.
