حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ قَزَعَةَ، - بَصْرِيٌّ - حَدَّثَنَا مَسْلَمَةُ بْنُ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ، فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ‏:‏ ‏(‏ ما كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَا أَحَدٍ مِنْ رِجَالِكُمْ ‏)‏ قَالَ مَا كَانَ لِيَعِيشَ لَهُ فِيكُمْ وَلَدٌ ذَكَرٌ ‏.‏
Al-Hasan bin Qaza’ah narrated to us - Basri - Maslamah bin Alqamah narrated to us, on the authority of Dawud bin Abi Hind, on the authority of Amir Al-Sha’bi, regarding the word of God God Almighty said: (Muhammad is not the father of any of your men.) He said, “It is not for him to have a male child among you who lives.”
