Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28707

Muhammad bin Ismail narrated to us, Hisham bin Ammar narrated to us, Abd al-Hamid bin Habib bin Abi Al-Ashrine narrated to us, Al-Awza’i narrated to us, Hassan bin Attiya told us, on the authority of Saeed bin Al-Musayyab, that he met Abu Hurairah, and Abu Hurairah said, “I ask God to gather, Between you and me in the market of Paradise. Saeed said, “Is there a market there?” He said, “Yes.” The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, told me, “When the people of Paradise enter They stayed there in thanks for their deeds. Then the call to prayer is announced on Friday, one of the days of this world, and they visit their Lord and He will appear before them. His throne, and He will appear to them in one of the gardens of Paradise, and pulpits of light will be placed for them, and pulpits of pearls, and pulpits of rubies, and pulpits of Aquamarine and platforms of gold and platforms of silver, and the lowest of them and all that is in them of the world sit on the dunes of musk and camphor and the like. “They see that those who hold chairs have a better seat than them.” Abu Hurairah said, “I said, ‘O Messenger of God, do we see our Lord?’” He said, “Yes.” He said, “Do you compete in seeing the sun and the moon on a full-moon night?” We said, “No.” He said, “Likewise, you do not compete in seeing your Lord.” And no Not a single man will remain in that gathering except that God will give him a lecture until he says to the man from among them: O so-and-so, son of so-and-so, do you remember the day you said such-and-such? Likewise, He reminds him of some of his treacheries in this world, and he says, O Lord, why have you not forgiven me? He says, “Yes, for with the breadth of my forgiveness, I have reached your status.” This. While they were in that, a cloud covered them above them and rained down upon them perfume, the smell of which they did not smell anything at all. And He says Our Lord, Blessed and Most High, arise to what I have prepared for you of honor, and take what you desire. He said, “Then we will bring a market crowded with it.” The angels are in it. The like of it has not been seen by the eyes, nor has the ears heard, nor has it entered the hearts. So what we desire is brought to us. It cannot be sold. Therein, no purchase can be made, and in that market the people of Paradise will meet one another. He said, and the man of high status will come. Then he meets those who are inferior to him, and there is no world among them, and he is horrified by the clothing he sees on him. And the end of his speech does not end until he imagines what he is wearing. Better than that, because no one should be sad there. Then we go back to our homes, and our wives meet us and say, Welcome. And welcome, you have come, and your beauty is better than what you left us with. So we say, “We have sat today with our Lord, the Mighty, and He has right to us.” That we turn back in the same way we turned.” Abu Issa said, “This is a strange hadith. We do not know it except from this perspective.” Suwayd ibn Amr reported something from this hadith on the authority of Al-Awza’i.
