Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29945

Qutayba bin Saeed told us, he said Muhammad bin Suleiman Al-Asbahani told us, on the authority of Yahya bin Ubaid, on the authority of Ata’ bin Abi Rabah, on the authority of Omar Ibn Abi Salamah, a stepson of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: This verse was revealed to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace: (God only desires That He may remove impurity from you, O People of the Household, and purify you with a thorough purification) In the house of Umm Salamah, the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, called Fatima, Hassan, and Hussein, and honored them. With a cloak and Ali behind his back, he wrapped him with a cloak and then said, “O God, these are my family, so remove from them the uncleanness.” And purify them with a thorough purification.” Umm Salama said, “And I am with them, O Prophet of God.” He said, “You remain in your place and you are good to me.” On the authority of Umm Salamah, Maqil bin Yasar, Abu Al-Hamra, and Anas bin Malik. This is a strange hadith from this perspective.
