عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم يَقُولُ مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ تُصِيبُهُ مُصِيبَةٌ فَيَقُولُ مَا أَمَرَهُ اللهُ إِنَّا لِلهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِى فِى مُصِيبَتِى وَأَخْلِفْ لِى خَيْرًا مِنْهَا إِلاَّ أَخْلَفَ اللهُ لَهُ خَيْرًا مِنْهَا قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا مَاتَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ قُلْتُ أَىُّ الْمُسْلِمِينَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَبِى سَلَمَةَ أَوَّلُ بَيْتٍ هَاجَرَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم ثُمَّ إِنِّى قُلْتُهَا فَأَخْلَفَ اللهُ لِى رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم قَالَتْ أَرْسَلَ إِلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم حَاطِبَ بْنَ أَبِى بَلْتَعَةَ يَخْطُبُنِى لَهُ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ لِى بِنْتًا وَأَنَا غَيُورٌ فَقَالَ أَمَّا ابْنَتُهَا فَنَدْعُو اللهَ أَنْ يُغْنِيَهَا عَنْهَا وَأَدْعُو اللهَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ بِالْغَيْرَةِ
On the authority of Umm Salamah that she said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saying: There is no Muslim who is afflicted by a calamity and then says, “What God has commanded, we belong to God.” And to Him we shall return. O God, protect me from my affliction and give me something better than it, unless God gives him something better than it. She said: Ibn Abi Balta’ah proposed to me. I said, “I have a daughter and I am jealous.” He said, “As for her daughter, we pray to God to spare her need, and I pray to God to He goes away with jealousy
