Hadith #39893
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «أَقْرَأَنِىْ جِبْرِيْلُ عَلٰى حَرْفٍ فَرَاجَعْتُه فَلَمْ أَزَلْ اَسْتَزِيْدُه وَيَزِيْدُنِىْ حَتَّى انْتَهٰى إِلٰى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ». قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ: بَلَغَنِىْ أَنَّ تِلْكَ السَّبْعَةَ الْأَحْرُفَ إِنَّمَا هِىَ فِى الْأَمْرِ تَكُونُ وَاحِدًا لَا تَخْتَلِفُ فِىْ حَلَالٍ وَلَا حرَامٍ. (مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ)
On the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Gabriel taught me a letter, so I reviewed it and I did not stop. “I added more to it and he added to me until it reached seven letters.” Ibn Shihab said: I have heard that those seven letters are only about commands. One and the same, do not disagree about what is permissible or what is forbidden. (agreed)
