Hadith #39967
وَعَن قَتَادَةَ: بَلَغَه أَنَّ رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا رَأَى الْهِلَالَ قَالَ: هِلَالُ خَيْرٍ وَرُشْدٍ هِلَالُ خَيْرٍ وَرُشْدٍ هِلَالُ خَيْرٍ وَرُشْدٍ اٰمَنْتُ بِالَّذِىْ خَلَقَكَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِىْ ذَهَبَ بِشَهْرِ كَذَا وَجَاء بِشَهْر كَذَا. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ
On the authority of Qatada: He was informed that when the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saw the crescent, he would say: A crescent of goodness and guidance, a crescent of goodness and guidance, a crescent of goodness and guidance. I believe in the One who created you three times, then he says: Praise be to God, who went away with such-and-such month and brought such-and-such month. Narrated by Abu Dawood
