Hadith #40556
وعنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: "صوموا لرؤيته، وأفطروا لرؤيته، فإن غَبِيَ عليكم فأكملوا عدة شعبان ثلاثين" ((متفق عليه وهذا لفظ البخاري)).
وفي رواية مسلم: "فإن غم عليكم فصوموا ثلاثين يومًا".
On his authority, the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Fast when you see it, and break your fast when you see it. If it is hidden from you, then complete the number of days of Sha’ban as thirty days” ((Agreed upon, and this is the wording of Al-Bukhari)).
In Muslim’s narration: “If it is cloudy for you, then fast for thirty days.”
