Riyad as-Salihin — Hadith #40636

On the authority of Abu Masoud Al-Badri, may God be pleased with him, he said: “I was hitting a servant of mine in the middle, then I heard a voice behind me: “Know, Abu Masoud.” I did not understand the voice out of anger, so when he approached me, it was the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he was saying: “Know, Abu Masoud, that God has more power over you than you do over this boy.” So I said: I will not hit a slave. forever after him. ((And in a narration: Then the whip fell from the hands of someone His prestige)) ((And in a narration: I said: O Messenger of God, he is free for the sake of God Almighty. He said: “But if you had not done so, the Fire would have consumed you, or the Fire would have touched you” ((Narrated by Muslim with these narrations)).
