Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45407

We found therein two men, one of them a man from Quraysh and a freedman of Uqbah ibn Abi Mu’it. As for the Qurayshite, he escaped, and as for the freedman of Uqbah. So We took him and said to him, “How many people are there?” He said, “By God, they are many. Their numbers are strong in their strength.” So he made the Muslims believe when he said that. They beat him until they brought him to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he said to him, “How many people are there?” He said, “They are.” By God, they are many. Their numbers are strong in their strength. So the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, tried to tell him how many of them they were, but he refused. Then the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, asked him how many islands they would slaughter, and he said. Ten times a day. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to the people, “One thousand, each on the islands of a hundred.” He followed them, then At night, a heavy rain fell upon us, so we went under the trees and the hut to seek shade from the rain, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, spent the night. And he greeted him, calling on his Lord, the Almighty, the Majestic, and saying, “O God, if you destroy this group, you will not be worshipped.” He said, “When dawn came, He called to prayer, servants of God, and people came from under trees and groves, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, led us in prayer and incited fighting, then he said: The Quraysh gathered under this red side of the mountain. When the people approached us and we lined up with them, we saw a man. Among them was on a red camel walking among the people, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “O Ali, call me Hamza.” He was the closest of them to The polytheists, who is the owner of the red camel and what does he say to them? Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: If he is among the people Someone commands something good, perhaps he is the owner of the red camel. Then Hamzah came and said, “It is Utbah bin Rabi’ah, and he forbids fighting.” And he says to them, “O my people, I see a people desperate and you cannot reach them, but there is good among you. O my people, attack her today with my head and say, ‘Cowardice.’” Utbah bin Rabi’ah, and you know that I am not your coward. So Abu Jahl heard that and said, “You say this, and by God, if someone else changed it.” He says, “This is what I bit him. Your lungs have filled your core with terror.” He said, “When you come to me, you will reproach me, you who whistle. You will know today what a coward I am.” He said Utbah, his brother Shaybah, and his newborn son Hamiya emerged and said, “Who will fight?” Then six young men from the Ansar came out, and Utbah said, “We do not want to fight.” These people, but some of our cousins from Bani Abdul Muttalib are competing with us, so the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Arise, O Ali, and stand up.” O Hamza, arise, O Ubaidah bin Al-Harith bin Abdul-Muttalib, for God Almighty killed Utbah and Shaybah, the sons of Rabi’ah and Al-Walid bin Utbah. Ubaidah was wounded, so we killed seventy of them and captured seventy. Then a short man from the Ansar came to take Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib as a prisoner. Al-Abbas said, O Messenger of God, this, by God, did not captivate me. I was captivated by a man who was more handsome than the best of people, riding a horse that was as beautiful as I see in him. The people. The Ansari said, “I am his family, O Messenger of God.” He said, “Be quiet, for God Almighty has supported you with a generous kingdom.” Ali said, May God be pleased with him, so he captured us and captured some of the Banu Abdul Muttalib al-Abbas, Aqeel, and Nawfal bin al-Harith.
