حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي الأَسْوَدِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ حَصِيرَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ: إِنَّكُمْ فِي زَمَانٍ: كَثِيرٌ فُقَهَاؤُهُ، قَلِيلٌ خُطَبَاؤُهُ، قَلِيلٌ سُؤَّالُهُ، كَثِيرٌ مُعْطُوهُ، الْعَمَلُ فِيهِ قَائِدٌ لِلْهَوَى. وَسَيَأْتِي مِنْ بَعْدِكُمْ زَمَانٌ: قَلِيلٌ فُقَهَاؤُهُ، كَثِيرٌ خُطَبَاؤُهُ، كَثِيرٌ سُؤَّالُهُ، قَلِيلٌ مُعْطُوهُ، الْهَوَى فِيهِ قَائِدٌ لِلْعَمَلِ، اعْلَمُوا أَنَّ حُسْنَ الْهَدْيِ، فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ، خَيْرٌ مِنْ بَعْضِ الْعَمَلِ.
Abdullah bin Abi Al-Aswad told us, he said: Abdul-Wahid bin Ziyad told us, he said: Al-Harith bin Hasira told us, he said: Zaid told us Ibn Wahb said: I heard Ibn Masoud say: You are in a time when there are many jurists, few preachers, few questions, many Granted, action in it leads to desire. And there will come a time after you: its jurists will be few, its preachers many, its questions many, its few. They are given it. In it, desire leads to action. Know that good guidance, at the end of time, is better than some action.
