Hadith #47462
Musa told us, he said: Abu Awanah told us, on the authority of Al-A’mash, on the authority of Abu Sufyan, on the authority of Jabir, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was struck by a mare. In Medina on the trunk of a palm tree, then his foot broke off, so we were returning him to a drinking place for Aisha, may God be pleased with her, so we came to him while he was praying. He was sitting, so we prayed standing, then we came to him again while he was praying the obligatory prayer sitting, so we prayed behind him standing, and he motioned to us to sit. When he finished the prayer, he said: If the imam prays sitting, then pray sitting, and if he prays standing, then pray standing, and do not stand. The imam was sitting, as Persia does with its great leaders.
