حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مَعْنٌ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْهُدَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ اقْتَمَرَا عَلَى دِيكَيْنِ عَلَى عَهْدِ عُمَرَ فَأَمَرَ عُمَرُ بِقَتْلِ الدِّيَكَةِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ: أَتَقْتُلُ أُمَّةً تُسَبِّحُ؟ فَتَرَكَهَا.
Ibrahim bin Al-Mundhir narrated to us, saying: Ma’an narrated to me, saying: Ibn Al-Munkadir narrated to me, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Rabi’ah bin Abdullah bin Al-Hudair bin Abdullah said that two men attacked two cocks during the reign of Omar, so Omar ordered the killing of the cocks, and a man from Al-Ansar: Should I kill a nation that praises Allah? So he abandoned it.
