Hadith #51906

وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " آخِرُ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ رَجُلٌ يَمْشِي مَرَّةً وَيَكْبُو مَرَّةً وَتَسْفَعُهُ النارُ مرّة فإِذا جاؤوها الْتَفَتَ إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَ: تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي نَجَّانِي مِنْكِ لَقَدْ أَعْطَانِي اللَّهُ شَيْئًا مَا أَعْطَاهُ أَحَدًا مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ فَتُرْفَعُ لَهُ شَجَرَةٌ فَيَقُولُ: أَيْ رَبِّ أَدْنِنِي مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ فَلْأَسْتَظِلَّ بِظِلِّهَا وَأَشْرَبَ مِنْ مَائِهَا فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ: يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ لَعَلِّي إِنْ أَعْطَيْتُكَهَا سَأَلْتَنِي غَيْرَهَا؟ فَيَقُولُ: لَا يَا رَبِّ وَيُعَاهِدُهُ أَنْ لَا يَسْأَلَهُ غَيْرَهَا وَرَبُّهُ يَعْذُرُهُ لِأَنَّهُ يَرَى مَا لَا صَبْرَ لَهُ عَلَيْهِ فَيُدْنِيهِ مِنْهَا فَيَسْتَظِلُّ بِظِلِّهَا وَيَشْرَبُ مِنْ مَائِهَا ثُمَّ تُرْفَعُ لَهُ شَجَرَةٌ هِيَ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ الْأُولَى فَيَقُولُ: أَيْ رَبِّ أَدْنِنِي مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ لِأَشْرَبَ مِنْ مَائِهَا وَأَسْتَظِلَّ بِظِلِّهَا لَا أَسْأَلُكَ غَيْرَهَا. فَيَقُولُ: يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ أَلَمْ تُعَاهِدْنِي أَنْ لَا تَسْأَلَنِي غَيْرَهَا؟ فَيَقُولُ: لَعَلِّي إِنْ أَدْنَيْتُكَ مِنْهَا تَسْأَلُنِي غَيْرَهَا؟ فَيُعَاهِدُهُ أَنْ لَا يَسْأَلَهُ غَيْرَهَا وَرَبُّهُ يَعْذُرُهُ لِأَنَّهُ يَرَى مَا لَا صَبْرَ لَهُ عَلَيْهِ فَيُدْنِيهِ مِنْهَا فَيَسْتَظِلُّ بِظِلِّهَا وَيَشْرَبُ مِنْ مَائِهَا ثُمَّ تُرْفَعُ لَهُ شَجَرَةٌ عِنْدَ بَابِ الْجَنَّةِ هِيَ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ الْأُولَيَيْنِ فَيَقُولُ: أَيْ رَبِّ أَدْنِنِي مِنْ هَذِهِ فَلِأَسْتَظِلَّ بِظِلِّهَا وَأَشْرَبَ مِنْ مَائِهَا لَا أَسْأَلُكَ غَيْرَهَا. فَيَقُولُ: يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ أَلَمْ تُعَاهِدْنِي أَنْ لَا تَسْأَلَنِي غَيْرَهَا؟ قَالَ: بَلَى يَا رَبِّ هَذِهِ لَا أَسْأَلُكَ غَيْرَهَا وَرَبُّهُ يَعْذُرُهُ لِأَنَّهُ يَرَى مَا لَا صَبْرَ لَهُ عَلَيْهِ فَيُدْنِيهِ مِنْهَا فَإِذَا أَدْنَاهُ مِنْهَا سَمِعَ أَصْوَاتَ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فيقولُ: أَي رَبِّ أَدْخِلْنِيهَا فَيَقُولُ: يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ مَا يصريني مِنْك؟ أيرضيك أَن أُعْطِيك الدُّنْيَا وَمِثْلَهَا مَعَهَا. قَالَ: أَيْ رَبِّ أَتَسْتَهْزِئُ مِنِّي وَأَنْتَ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ؟ فَضَحِكَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَقَالَ: أَلا تسألونيّ ممَّ أضْحك؟ فَقَالُوا: مِم تضحك؟ فَقَالَ: هَكَذَا ضَحِكَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. فَقَالُوا: مِمَّ تَضْحَكُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: " من ضحك رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ؟ فَيَقُولُ: إِنِّي لَا أَسْتَهْزِئُ مِنْكَ وَلَكِنِّي على مَا أَشَاء قدير ". رَوَاهُ مُسلم

On the authority of Ibn Masoud, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “The last person to enter Paradise will be a man who will walk sometimes, fall down sometimes, and be burned by Hell once.” So when they came to her, he turned to her and said: Blessed is he who saved me from you. God has given me something that he has not given anyone else. The first and the last. Then a tree will be raised up for him and he will say: O Lord, bring me nearer to this tree so that I may seek shade in its shade and drink from its water. He will say God: O son of Adam, perhaps if I gave it to you, you would ask Me for something else? So he says: No, O Lord, and he covenants that he will not ask him for anything else, and his Lord He excuses him because he sees something he has no patience for, so he brings him closer to it, so he can take shade in its shade and drink from its water. Then a tree is raised for him, which is... Better than the first, so he says: O Lord, bring me closer to this tree so that I may drink of its water and take shelter in its shade. I do not ask You for anything else. And he says: Oh Son of Adam, did you not promise Me that you would not ask Me for anything else? He says: Perhaps if I bring you close to it, you will ask me for something else? So he pledges to him that he will not ask him for anything else, but his Lord excuses him because he sees something that he has no patience for, so he brings him closer to it and takes shelter in its shade. He drinks from its water, then it is raised for him. شَجَرَةٌ عِنْدَ بَابِ الْجَنَّةِ هِيَ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ الْأُولَيَيْنِ فَيَقُولُ: أَيْ رَبِّ أَدْنِنِي مِنْ هَذِهِ فَلِأَسْتَظِلَّ بِظِلِّهَا وَأَشْرَبَ مِنْ مَائِهَا I don't ask you for anything else. فَيَقُولُ: يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ أَلَمْ تُعَاهِدْنِي أَنْ لَا تَسْأَلَنِي غَيْرَهَا؟ He said: Yes, O Lord, I do not ask You for anything else, by His Lord. He excuses him because he sees something he has no patience for, so he brings him closer to it, and when he gets close to it, he hears the voices of the people of Paradise, and he says: Oh, my Lord. Enter it, and he will say: O son of Adam, what keeps me from you? Would you be satisfied if I gave you the world and something similar to it? He said: O Lord, do you mock me when you are the Lord of the worlds? Ibn Masoud laughed and said: Don't you ask me why I'm laughing? They said: Why are you laughing? He said: This is how the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, laughed. They said: Why are you laughing, O Messenger of God? He said: “Who made the Lord of the worlds laugh? Then He says: I am not mocking you, but I am Able to do what I will.” Narrated by Muslim
