Qutaibah narrated to us, Hatim bin Ismail narrated to us, on the authority of Ja’far bin Muhammad, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ubayd Allah bin Abi Rafi’, the servant of the Messenger of God. God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: Marwan succeeded Abu Hurairah in charge of Medina and went out to Mecca, and Abu Hurairah led us in prayer on Friday. So he recited Surat Al-Jumu’ah, and in the second prostration: (When the hypocrites come to you.) Ubayd Allah said, “So I caught up with Abu Hurairah and said to him: It will be recited with two surahs that Ali used to recite in Kufa. Abu Hurairah said, “I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, reciting with them.” On the authority of Ibn Abbas, Al-Numan bin Bashir, and Abu Anabah Al-Khawlani. Abu Issa said the hadith of Abu Hurairah is a good hadith. True. It was narrated on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, that he used to recite in Friday prayers “Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High” and “Has a hadith reached you?” Al-Ghashiya). Ubayd Allah bin Abi Rafi’, the scribe of Ali bin Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him.
