Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #26899

Ali bin Hajar told us, he said, Ali bin Mushar told us, on the authority of Abd al-Rahman bin Ishaq, on the authority of al-Nu’man bin Sa’d, on the authority of Ali, he said A man asked him, and he said, “Which month do you command me to fast after the month of Ramadan?” He said to him, “I have not heard anyone ask about this except a man whom I heard.” He asked the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, while I was sitting. He said, “O Messenger of God, which month do you command me to fast after the month of Ramadan?” He said, “If you “Fasting after the month of Ramadan, then fasting Muharram, for it is God’s month, a day in which God repented to a people, and in which He repents to other people.” Abu Issa said: This is a good and strange hadith.
