Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27105

Ibn Abi Umar told us, Abu Muawiyah told us, on the authority of Al-Hajjaj, on the authority of Abu Al-Zubayr, on the authority of Jabir, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, established Hajj and Umrah. So he went around them once. He said: On the authority of Ibn Omar and Ibn Abbas. Abu Issa said: Jabir’s hadith is a good hadith. This is acted upon according to some of the people of knowledge among the Companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and others. They said: The Qiran performs one circumambulation. This is an opinion. Al-Shafi’i, Ahmad, and Ishaq. Some of the people of knowledge among the companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and others said, “He circumambulates two times.” He makes two efforts. This is the view of Al-Thawri and the people of Kufa.
