Hadith #26972
Abu Sa`id al-Ashjaj told us, Mansour bin Wardan told us, on the authority of Ali bin Abdul-Ala, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Abu al-Bakhtari, on the authority of Ali Ibn Abi Talib, he said, when it was revealed (And for God is the duty of the people to perform the Hajj to the House, whoever is able to make a way to it) they said, O Messenger of God, should I do it every year? So he remained silent. They said, “O Messenger of God, should I do it every year?” He said, “No, and if I had said yes, it would have become obligatory.” So God revealed: (O you who Believe. Do not ask about things that, if they were made known to you, would trouble you.) He said, and on the authority of Ibn Abbas and Abu Hurairah. Abu Issa said Hadith Ali has a good and strange hadith from this perspective. The name of Abu Al-Bakhtari is Sa’id bin Abi Imran, and he is Sa’id bin Fayrouz.
