Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27152

Qutaibah narrated to us, Bishr bin Al-Mufaddal narrated to us, on the authority of Abdullah bin Uthman bin Khuthaym, on the authority of Saeed bin Jubayr, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Dress your clothes in white, for they are among the best of your clothes, and shroud your dead in them.” Chapter on the authority of Samurah, Ibn Umar, and Aisha. Abu Issa said: The hadith of Ibn Abbas is a good and authentic hadith. It is the one that the people of Knowledge. Ibn al-Mubarak said, “I prefer to be shrouded in the clothes in which he used to pray.” Ahmad and Ishaq said, “I prefer the clothes.” We are told to be shrouded in white, and a good shroud is desirable.
