Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27435

Qutaibah told us, on the authority of Malik ibn Anas, on the authority of Ibn Shihab, on the authority of Ibn Muhaiyya, the brother of Banu Haritha, on the authority of his father, that the Prophet asked permission to pray God, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding hiring a cupper, forbade him from it, and he continued to ask him and ask for his permission until he said, “Feed him your fresh water and feed him your slave.” . He said, and on the authority of Rafi’ bin Khadij, Abu Juhayfah, Jabir, and Al-Sa’ib bin Yazid. Abu Issa said the hadith of Muhaysah is a hasan hadith. This is acted upon according to some people of knowledge. Ahmad said, “If a cupper asks me, I will forbid him and take this hadith.”
