Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27436

Ali bin Hajar told us, Ismail bin Jafar told us, on the authority of Humaid, he said: Anas was asked about cupping, and Anas said: The Messenger of God was cupped. May God’s prayers and peace be upon him. Abu Taybah protected him, so he ordered two Saa’s of food for him, and he spoke to his family, so they collected some of his tax on his behalf, and he said, “Indeed, “The best treatment you can use is cupping.” Or “One of the best treatments you can use is cupping.” He said, and in the chapter on the authority of Ali and Ibn Abbas and Ibn Umar. Abu Issa said the hadith of Anas is a hasan and authentic hadith. Some of the people of knowledge among the companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, permitted it. And others in the matter of cupping. This is the opinion of Al-Shafi’i.
