Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27566

Muhammad bin Bashar told us, Abd al-Rahman bin Mahdi told us, Sufyan told us, on the authority of Alqamah bin Marthad, on the authority of Sulayman bin Buraidah, on the authority of His father, he said, whenever the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, sent a commander to command an army, he would instruct him privately to fear God and those with him.
