Hadith #27965
Mahmoud bin Ghaylan told us, Abu Dawud told us, Shu`bah told us, on the authority of Samak bin Harb, he heard Jabir bin Samra, saying that a messenger descended May God bless him and grant him peace upon Abu Ayyub. Whenever he ate food, he would send it to him as a bounty, so one day he sent him food and he did not eat of it. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. When Abu Ayyub came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, he mentioned that to him and he said, “It contains garlic.” He said, “O Messenger of God, it is forbidden.” He said. “No, but I hate it because of its smell.” Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith.
