Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28129

Hanad told us, Abu Muawiyah told us, on the authority of Al-Amash, on the authority of Shaqiq ibn Salamah, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Masoud, he said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “You must be honest, for honesty leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise, and the man continues to tell the truth.” And he strives for truthfulness until he is recorded with God as truthful, and beware of lying, for lying leads to immorality, and indeed immorality leads to the Fire and what The servant will continue to lie and seek to lie until he is written before God as a liar.” And on the authority of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Omar, Abdullah bin Al-Shakhir, and Ibn Omar. Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith.
