حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ الرِّفَاعِيُّ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جُمَيْعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم
" لاَ تَكُونُوا إِمَّعَةً تَقُولُونَ إِنْ أَحْسَنَ النَّاسُ أَحْسَنَّا وَإِنْ ظَلَمُوا ظَلَمْنَا وَلَكِنْ وَطِّنُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ إِنْ أَحْسَنَ النَّاسُ أَنْ تُحْسِنُوا وَإِنْ أَسَاءُوا فَلاَ تَظْلِمُوا " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ لاَ نَعْرِفُهُ إِلاَّ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ .
Abu Hisham Al-Rifai narrated to us, Muhammad bin Yazid narrated to us, Muhammad bin Fudayl narrated to us, on the authority of Al-Walid bin Abdullah bin Juma’, on the authority of Abu Tufayl, On the authority of Hudhayfah, the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said, “Do not be a fool, saying, ‘If people do good, we will do good,’ even if they do wrong.” We have been unjust, but calm yourselves down. If the people do good, do good, and if they do evil, do not be unjust.” Abu Issa said: This is a good and strange hadith. We only know him from this perspective.
