Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Azdi al-Basri narrated to us, Abd al-Samad ibn Abd al-Warith narrated to us, Hashim narrated to us, and he is the son of Sa`id al-Kufi. Zayd al-Khatha’mi told me, on the authority of Asma bint Umays al-Khath’ami, who said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, saying, “What a wretched servant I am.” A servant who imagined and was arrogant and forgot the Great and Sublime. What a miserable servant. A servant who was arrogant and transgressed and forgot the Most High and Mighty. What a miserable servant. And for her, and he forgot the graves and the calamities. What a miserable servant is a servant who is arrogant and arrogant, and who has forgotten the beginning and the end. What a miserable servant is a servant who neglects the world. Wretched is the servant with religion. Wretched is the servant. Wretched is the servant who distorts religion with doubts. Wretched is the servant. Wretched is the servant who is led by greed. Wretched is the servant. Wretched is the servant of desire who leads him astray. Wretched is the servant. A covetous slave who humiliates him.” Abu Issa said: This is a strange hadith. We only know it from this source, and its chain of narration is not strong.
