Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28606

Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Azdi al-Basri narrated to us, Abd al-Samad ibn Abd al-Warith narrated to us, Hashim narrated to us, and he is the son of Sa`id al-Kufi. Zayd al-Khatha’mi told me, on the authority of Asma bint Umays al-Khath’ami, who said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, saying, “What a wretched servant I am.” A servant who imagined and was arrogant and forgot the Great and Sublime. What a miserable servant. A servant who was arrogant and transgressed and forgot the Most High and Mighty. What a miserable servant. And for her, and he forgot the graves and the calamities.
