Hadith #28868
Sufyan bin Waki’ told us, Ruh bin Ubadah told us, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, Amr bin Abi Sufyan told me, that Amr bin Abdullah Ibn Safwan told him that Kalada ibn Hanbal told him that Safwan ibn Umayyah sent milk, colostrum, and Dhahabis to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. And the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was at the top of the valley. He said, “So I entered it and did not greet him or ask for permission. Then the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said, ‘Go back and say, ‘Peace be upon you.’” Shall I come in? That was after Safwan had converted to Islam. Amr said, and Umayyah bin Safwan told me this hadith. He did not say, “I heard it from Kalada.” Abu Issa said, “This is a good, strange hadith. We do not know it except from the hadith of Ibn Jurayj, and Abu Asim also narrated it.” On the authority of Ibn Juraij, something similar to this: Dhaghabis is an edible weed.
