Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28946
Hadith #28946
Muhammad bin Bashar told us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi told us, on the authority of Sa`id, on the authority of Qatada, on the authority of al-Hasan, on the authority of Imran bin Husayn, he said: The Prophet told me May God’s prayers and peace be upon him, “The best perfume for men is that whose scent is apparent but whose color is hidden, and the best perfume for women is that whose color is apparent but whose scent is hidden.” He forbade the use of purple mithra. This is a good and ghareeb hadith from this perspective.
