Hadith #29298
Qutaibah told us, Yahya bin Zakaria bin Abi Zaida told us, on the authority of Dawud bin Abi Hind, on the authority of Ikrimah, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said Quraysh said to the Jews, “Give us something that we can ask this man about.” He said, “Ask him about the soul.” He said, “They asked him about the soul,” and God revealed: (And They ask you about the spirit. Say, “The spirit is from the command of my Lord, and you have not been given of knowledge except a little.” They said, “We have been given much knowledge. The Torah. And whoever has been given the Torah Indeed, he has been given much good, so it was revealed: (Say, “If the sea were ink for the words of my Lord, the sea would surely be exhausted.”) etc. The verse. He said, “This is a good, authentic, and strange hadith from this perspective.”
