Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27645

Ahmad bin Mani’ told us, Ismail bin Ibrahim told us, on the authority of Ayyub, on the authority of Nafi’, on the authority of Ibn Umar, he said, “The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said.” Whoever keeps a dog that is neither predatory nor a livestock dog, two Qirats will be deducted from his reward every day.” He said, and in the chapter on the authority of Abdullah bin Mughaffal, Abu Hurairah, and Sufyan bin Abi Zuhayr. Abu Issa said: The hadith of Ibn Umar is a good and authentic hadith. It was narrated on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. He said, “Or a sheep dog.”
