Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29349

Abu Musa narrated to us, Muhammad bin Al-Muthanna narrated to us, Muhammad bin Khalid bin Uthma narrated to us, Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman Al-Jumahi narrated to us, Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri, on the authority of Ubayd Allah ibn Abdullah ibn Utbah, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to my father Bakr in a fight: (M* has defeated the Romans) “Don’t you be careful, O Abu Bakr, for the handful is between three and nine.” He said. Abu Issa, this is a strange hadith from the hadith of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Ubayd Allah, on the authority of Ibn Abbas.
