Hadith #38009
قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: «أحب الصيام إلى الله صيام داود (ع)، وأحب الصلاة إلى الله صلاة داود (ع)، كان ينام نصف الليل، ثم صلاة الهجعة الثالثة». وكان بعد القراءة ينام في الجزء السادس، فيأكل ويشرب يوما ويصوم يوما آخر. (البخاري 1131، مسلم 2796، أبو داود، النسائي، ابن ماجه)
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said, "The most beloved fast to Allah is the fast of Dawud (a.s.). And the most beloved prayer to Allah is the prayer of Dawud (a.s.). He used to sleep half the night. Then the third watch prayer." After reading he would sleep in the sixth part, and he would eat and drink one day and fast the next day.” (Bukhari 1131, Muslim 2796, Abu Dawud, Nasa'i, Ibn Majah)
