Hadith #38842
On the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, he said: When the Messenger of God died, and Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him, declared disbelief among the Arabs who disbelieved, Omar, may God be pleased with him, said: How can people be fought when the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “I have been commanded to fight people until they say there is no god but God, so whoever says it, his wealth and his life have been protected from me except by his right and his reckoning with God”? So Abu said. Bakr: By God, I will fight anyone who separates prayers And zakat, for zakat is the right of money. By God, if they had prevented me from wearing a collar that they used to give to the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, I would have fought them for withholding it. He said: Omar, may God be pleased with him: By God, it was only that I saw that God had opened Abu Bakr’s chest to fight, so I knew that it was the truth. ((Agreed upon))
