Riyad as-Salihin — Hadith #38877

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, he said: A man from among the companions of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, passed by a valley in which there was a spring of fresh water, and I liked it. He said: If I were to isolate myself from the people and stay in this valley, I will not do so until I ask permission from the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him. So he mentioned that to the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and he said: “Do not do that, for the position of one of you in the path of God is better than his praying in his house for seventy years. Would you not like to May God forgive you And will he admit you to Paradise? Fight in the cause of God.
