Hadith #39014
On the authority of Qubaisa bin Al-Mukhariq, may God be pleased with him, he said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, say: “Al-Ayyafah, Al-Tayyrah, and Al-Tiraq are from the Jibt.” ((Narrated by Abu Dawud with a good chain of transmission)). He said: “The way” is to rebuke: that is, to rebuke the bird, which is to make it feel good or bad by its flight. If it flies to the right, it will be safe, and if it flies to the right. The left is pessimistic. Abu Dawud said: “And Al-Ayyafah”: the calligraphy. Al-Jawhari said in Al-Sihah: Jibt is a word used to refer to an idol, a priest, a magician, and the like.
