Mishkatul Masabih — Hadith #40101

He narrated from his father. He (his father Mihjan) was with the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) in a meeting. At that time, the call to prayer was made. So the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) stood up for prayer He prayed. He returned after finishing the prayer. He saw Mihjan sitting in his place. He asked her. What forbade you to pray with the people (in congregation)? Aren't you a Muslim? Mihjan said, Yes, O Messenger of Allah! i am muslim But I have prayed with my family. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: When you come to the mosque after praying in your house and see it being prayed, you should pray with the people (in congregation).
