Riyad as-Salihin — Hadith #45914

On the authority of Hudhayfah, may God be pleased with him, he said: When we attended a meal with the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, we would not put down our hands until the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, began to place his hand. And once we attended a meal with him, and a maid came as if she was pushing, so she went to put her hand in the food, and the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, took her hand. Then a Bedouin came as if pushing, so he took his hand, so the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: He said: “The devil Food is permissible if the name of God Almighty is not mentioned on it, and he brought this slave girl to make it permissible, so I took her hand, and he brought this Bedouin to make it permissible, so I took his hand, and by the One in whose hand my soul is, his hand is in my hand along with their hands.” Then he mentioned the name of God Almighty and ate.
