Riyad as-Salihin — Hadith #46306

On the authority of Mujibah Al-Bahiliyya, on the authority of her father or her uncle, that he came to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, then he set off and came to him after a year, and his condition and appearance had changed, and he said: O Messenger of God, do you not know me? He said: “And who are you?” He said: I am Al-Bahili who came to you in the first year. He said: “So who else is there, and you were in good shape?” He said: What did you eat? Food since I left you until one night. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said He said: “You tortured yourself!” Then he said: “Fast for the month of patience, and one day of every month.” He said: “Add me, for I have strength.” He said: “Fast for two days.” He said: “Add me.” He said: “Fast for three days.” He said: “Add me.” He said: “Fast from the sanctuary and leave, fast from the sanctuary and leave, fast from Sanctuary and leave.” He said with his three fingers, clasping them together, then releasing them.
