حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ: إِنْ عِشْتُ نَهَيْتُ أُمَّتِي، إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ، أَنْ يُسَمِّي أَحَدُهُمْ بَرَكَةَ، وَنَافِعًا، وَأَفْلَحَ، وَلاَ أَدْرِي قَالَ: رَافِعًا أَمْ لاَ؟، يُقَالُ: هَا هُنَا بَرَكَةُ؟ فَيُقَالُ: لَيْسَ هَا هُنَا، فَقُبِضَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَلَمْ يَنْهَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ.
Omar bin Hafs told us, he said: My father told us, he said: Al-Amash told us, he said: Abu Sufyan told us, on the authority of Jabir, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. He said: If I live, I will forbid my nation, God willing, to name one of them as a blessing, a benefit, or a success, and I do not know. He said: Rafi’. Or not? It is said: Is there a pool here? Then it is said: Not here, so the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, was arrested and did not forbid that.
