Al-Adab Al-Mufrad — Hadith #47524

Abdullah bin Saleh narrated to us, saying: Al-Layth narrated to me, on the authority of Amr, he is Ibn Al-Harith, on the authority of Bakr bin Sawadah, on the authority of Abu Al-Najib, on the authority of Abu Saeed said: A man from Bahrain came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he greeted him, but he did not respond, and he had a gold ring in his hand, and on it A silk robe, so the man left sad, so he complained to his wife, and she said: Perhaps the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, will return your robe and your ring, so throw them on and then Come back, so he did so. He returned the greeting and said: I came to you just now and you turned away from me? He said: You had coals of fire in your hand, so he said: I have Then I came with a lot of coals. He said: What you brought is no more sufficient for us than the stones of the heat, but it is the enjoyment of the life of this world. He said: So what should I seal with it? He said: With a ring of paper, or a piece of paper, or an iron.
