Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #51897

And on the authority of Anas that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “The believers will be imprisoned on the Day of Resurrection until they are concerned about that and say: If only we had interceded for us.” Our Lord, please relieve us from our place. Then they will come to Adam and say: You are Adam, the father of mankind. God created you with His hand and made you dwell in His Paradise. And His angels prostrated before you and taught you the names of everything. Intercede on our behalf with your Lord until He relieves us from this place we are. He says: I am not there. And he mentions his sin that he committed: he ate from the tree, and it was forbidden - but go to Noah, the first prophet whom God sent to the people of the earth. So they would come to Noah, and he would say: I am not there with you - and mention the sin he had committed: asking his Lord without knowledge - but go to Abraham, his friend. The Most Gracious. He said: Then they come to Abraham, and he says: Indeed, I am not there - and he mentions three lies that he told - but go to Moses, a servant whom God has given The Torah, and spoke to him, and brought him near as a deliverer. He said: Then they come to Moses, and he says: I am not there - and mentions his sin, which caused him to kill himself - but go to Jesus, the servant of God. And His Messenger, the Spirit of God, and His Word.” He said: “So they come to Jesus, and he says: I am not there, but go to Muhammad.” A servant to whom God has forgiven his past and future sins.” He said: “Then they come to me, and I seek permission from my Lord in His abode, and He grants me permission for Him. When I see him I fell prostrating, and he would leave me as long as God wished for him to leave me, and he would say: Raise Muhammad, and say, “You will be heard, intercede, and your intercession will be granted, and ask, and it will be given to him.” He said: “So I raise my head.” So I praise my Lord with praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede and He will set a limit for me, so I will go out and take them out of Hell and admit them to Paradise, then I will return the second time. So I seek permission from my Lord in His abode. Then the call to prayer would be given to me, and when I saw him, I fell prostrating. He will leave me as long as God wills, and then He says: Raise Muhammad and say and you will be heard, intercede and you will be granted intercession, and ask and it will be given to him. He said: “So I raise my head and praise my Lord with praise and praise that He will teach me, then I will intercede and He will set a punishment for me, so I will go out and bring them out of the Fire.” And I will admit them to Paradise, then I will return a third time and seek permission from my Lord in He turned his house around, and it was annoyance for me. When I saw him, I fell prostrating, and he would leave me as long as God willed. Then he would say: Raise Muhammad and say, “You will be heard, and intercede, and you will be interceded.” And ask, and it will be given to you.” He said: “Then I raise my head and praise my Lord with praise and praise. He will teach me, then I will intercede, and He will set a punishment for me, so I will go out, and I will expel them.” from the Fire and admit them to Paradise until nothing remains in the Fire except those whom the Qur’an has confined.” That is, it is obligatory upon him to live in eternity. Then he recited this verse (perhaps that God will raise you to a Praiseworthy Station.” He said: “And this is the Praiseworthy Station that your Prophet promised.” Agreed upon.
