أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو حَاتِمٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ هُوَ رَوْحُ بِنُ أَسْلَمَ الْبَصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسٌ إِذْ ضَحِكَ، فَقَالَ : " أَلَا تَسْأَلُونِي مِمَّا أَضْحَكُ؟ "، فَقَالُوا : مِمَّ تَضْحَكُ؟، قَالَ :" عَجَبًا مِنْ أَمْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِ كُلُّهُ لَهُ خَيْرٌ : إِنْ أَصَابَهُ مَا يُحِبُّ، حَمِدَ اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ، فَكَانَ لَهُ خَيْرٌ، وَإِنْ أَصَابَهُ مَا يَكْرَهُ فَصَبَرَ، كَانَ لَهُ خَيْرٌ، وَلَيْسَ كُلُّ أَحَدٍ أَمْرُهُ لَهُ خَيْرٌ إِلَّا الْمُؤْمِنَ "
Abu Hatim Al-Basri told us: He is Ruh bin Aslam Al-Basri, Hammad bin Salamah told us, Thabit told us, on the authority of Abdul Rahman Ibn Abi Laila, on the authority of Suhayb, who said: While the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was sitting, he laughed and said: “Won’t you ask me why I’m laughing?” They said: What are you laughing at? He said: “It is amazing that every matter of a believer is good for him: if something befalls him that he loves, he praises God for it, and it is good for him. Something he hates befalls him, so he is patient. That will be good for him, and not everyone’s situation is good for him except the believer.”
