Al-Adab Al-Mufrad # 41/952
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَدْخُلُ عَلَى أُمِّ حَرَامِ ابْنَةِ مِلْحَانَ، فَتُطْعِمُهُ، وَكَانَتْ تَحْتَ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ، فَأَطْعَمَتْهُ وَجَعَلَتْ تَفْلِي رَأْسَهُ، فَنَامَ ثُمَّ اسْتَيْقَظَ يَضْحَكُ.
Abdullah bin Yusuf told us, he said: Malik told us, on the authority of Ishaq bin Abi Talha, that he heard Anas bin Malik say: The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to He goes to Umm Haram, the daughter of Malhan, and she feeds him. حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ أَبُو هِشَامٍ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ، وَكَانَ ثِقَةً، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الصَّعْقُ بْنُ حَزْنٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مُطَيَّبٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ الْبَصْرِيِّ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ السَّعْدِيِّ قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ: هَذَا سَيِّدُ أَهْلِ الْوَبَرِ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا الْمَالُ الَّذِي لَيْسَ عَلَيَّ فِيهِ تَبِعَةٌ مِنْ طَالِبٍ، وَلاَ مِنْ ضَيْفٍ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: نِعْمَ الْمَالُ أَرْبَعُونَ، وَالأَكْثَرُ سِتُّونَ، وَوَيْلٌ لأَصْحَابِ الْمِئِينَ إِلاَّ مَنْ أَعْطَى الْكَرِيمَةَ، وَمَنَحَالْغَزِيرَةَ، وَنَحَرَ السَّمِينَةَ، فَأَكَلَ وَأَطْعَمَ الْقَانِعَ وَالْمُعْتَرَّ، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا أَكْرَمُ هَذِهِ الأَخْلاَقِ، لاَ يُحَلُّ بِوَادٍ أَنَا فِيهِ مِنْ كَثْرَةِ نَعَمِي؟ فَقَالَ: كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ بِالْعَطِيَّةِ؟ قُلْتُ: أُعْطِي الْبِكْرَ، وَأُعْطِي النَّابَ، قَالَ: كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ فِي الْمَنِيحَةِ؟ قَالَ: إِنِّي لَأَمْنَحُ النَّاقَةَ، قَالَ: كَيْفَ تَصْنَعُ فِي الطَّرُوقَةِ؟ قَالَ: يَغْدُو النَّاسُ بِحِبَالِهِمْ، وَلاَ يُوزَعُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ جَمَلٍ يَخْتَطِمُهُ، فَيُمْسِكُهُ مَا بَدَا لَهُ، حَتَّى يَكُونَ هُوَ يَرُدَّهُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم: فَمَالُكَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ أَمْ مَالُ مَوَالِيكَ؟ قَالَ: مَالِي، قَالَ: فَإِنَّمَا لَكَ مِنْ مَالِكَ مَا أَكَلْتَ فَأَفْنَيْتَ، أَوْ أَعْطَيْتَ فَأَمْضَيْتَ، وَسَائِرُهُ لِمَوَالِيكَ، فَقُلْتُ: لاَ جَرَمَ، لَئِنْ رَجَعْتُ لَأُقِلَّنَّ عَدَدَهَا فَلَمَّا حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ جَمَعَ بَنِيهِ فَقَالَ: يَا بَنِيَّ، خُذُوا عَنِّي، فَإِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَأْخُذُوا عَنْ أَحَدٍ هُوَ أَنْصَحُ لَكُمْ مِنِّي: لاَ تَنُوحُوا عَلَيَّ، فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لَمْ يُنَحْ عَلَيْهِ، وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَنْهَى عَنِ النِّيَاحَةِ، وَكَفِّنُونِي فِي ثِيَابِي الَّتِي كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي فِيهَا، وَسَوِّدُوا أَكَابِرَكُمْ، فَإِنَّكُمْ إِذَا سَوَّدْتُمْ أَكَابِرَكُمْ لَمْ يَزَلْ لأَبِيكُمْ فِيكُمْ خَلِيفَةٌ، وَإِذَا سَوَّدْتُمْ أَصَاغِرَكُمْ هَانَ أَكَابِرُكُمْ عَلَى النَّاسِ، وزهدوا فيكم وَأَصْلِحُوا عَيْشَكُمْ، فَإِنَّ فِيهِ غِنًى عَنْ طَلَبِ النَّاسِ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْمَسْأَلَةَ، فَإِنَّهَا آخِرُ كَسْبِ الْمَرْءِ، وَإِذَا دَفَنْتُمُونِي فَسَوُّوا عَلَيَّ قَبْرِي، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَكُونُ شَيْءٌ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ هَذَا الْحَيِّ مِنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ وَائِلٍ: خُمَاشَاتٌ، فَلاَ آمَنُ سَفِيهًا أَنْ يَأْتِيَ أَمْرًا يُدْخِلُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَيْبًا فِي دِينِكُمْ.
Ali bin Abdullah told us, he said: Al-Mugheerah bin Salamah Abu Hisham Al-Makhzoumi told us, and he was trustworthy, he said: Al-Sa’q bin Hazn told us. He said: Al-Qasim bin Mutayyab told me, on the authority of Al-Hasan Al-Basri, on the authority of Qais bin Asim Al-Saadi, who said: I came to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: This is the master of the people of righteousness. So I said: O Messenger of God, what is the wealth for which I do not have to pay any liability from a seeker or from a guest? So he said. The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him: What good wealth is forty, and the most is sixty, and woe to those who have a hundred, except for the one who gives generous things. And he brought forth abundant benefactors and slaughtered the fat ones, and he ate and fed the contented and the poor. I said: O Messenger of God, how noble are these manners. It is not permissible for me to live in a valley. In which are My many blessings? He said: How do you deal with the gift? I said: I give to the firstborn, and I give to the youngest. He said: How? Is it done in the free-range? He said: I will give the camel away. He said: How is it done in the streets? He said: People go out in the morning with their ropes, and not a man is swayed from the ropes. A camel snatched him, and he held him as long as he wanted, until he drove him back. Then the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: Why is it that I love Is it yours or the wealth of your masters? He said: My wealth. He said: Yours is only what you ate and used up, or you gave and spent, and the rest of it. To your master, so I said: No offense, if I return I will reduce its number. When death approached him, he gathered his sons and said: O my sons, take it from me. For you will not take from anyone who is more sincere to you than I am: Do not mourn over me, for the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was not mourned over him, and I heard the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him. God, upon him be peace, forbids wailing, and shroud me in the clothes in which I used to pray, and blacken the elders of you, for if you If you lord it over your elders, your father will still have a caliph among you. And if you lord it over your younger ones, your elders will be indifferent to the people, and they will abstain from you and improve your lives. For there is no need for people to ask for it, and beware of begging, for it is the last thing a person earns, and if you bury me, be unfair to me. My grave, for there was something going on between me and this neighborhood of Bakr bin Wael: Khamashat, so no fool is safe from doing something that would harm you. A flaw in your religion

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ خَلِيلِي أَبَا ذَرٍّ، فَقَالَ: أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِوَضُوءٍ، فَحَرَّكَ رَأْسَهُ، وَعَضَّ عَلَى شَفَتَيْهِ، قُلْتُ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي آذَيْتُكَ؟ قَالَ: لاَ، وَلَكِنَّكَ تُدْرِكُ أُمَرَاءَ أَوْ أَئِمَّةً يُؤَخِّرُونَ الصَّلاَةَ لِوَقْتِهَا، قُلْتُ: فَمَا تَأْمُرُنِي؟ قَالَ: صَلِّ الصَّلاَةَ لِوَقْتِهَا، فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَ مَعَهُمْ فَصَلِّهِ، وَلاَ تَقُولَنَّ: صَلَّيْتُ، فَلاَ أُصَلِّي.
Musa told us, he said: Wahib told us, he said: Ayoub told us, on the authority of Abu Al-Aliyah, he said: I asked Abdullah bin Al-Samit, he said: I asked My friend, Abu Dharr, and he said: I came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, to perform ablution. حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ، أَنَّ حُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم طَرَقَهُ وَفَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، فَقَالَ: أَلاَ تُصَلُّونَ؟ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّمَا أَنْفُسُنَا عِنْدَ اللهِ، فَإِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَبْعَثَنَا بَعَثَنَا، فَانْصَرَفَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، وَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ إِلَيَّ شَيْئًا، ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُ وَهُوَ مُدْبِرٌ يَضْرِبُ فَخِذَهُ يَقُولُ: {وَكَانَ الإِنْسَانُ أَكْثَرَ شَيْءٍ جَدَلاً}.
Yahya bin Bukayr told us, he said: Al-Layth told us, on the authority of Aqeel, on the authority of Ibn Shihab, on the authority of Ali bin Hussein, that Hussein bin Ali told him, On the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, went to him and Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and said: Don’t you pray? So I said: O Messenger of God, our lives are only with God, so if He wishes to send us, He will send us. Then the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, left and did not return anything to me. Then I heard him as he was turning away and slapping his thigh, saying: “And man is the most argumentative.”

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad # 41/956
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلاَمٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُهُ يَضْرِبُ جَبْهَتَهُ بِيَدِهِ وَيَقُولُ: يَا أَهْلَ الْعِرَاقِ، أَتَزْعُمُونَ أَنِّي أَكْذِبُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، أَيَكُونُ لَكُمُ الْمَهْنَأُ وَعَلَيَّ الْمَأْثَمُ؟ أَشْهَدُ لَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ: إِذَا انْقَطَعَ شِسْعُ نَعْلِ أَحَدِكُمْ، فَلاَ يَمْشِي فِي نَعْلِهِ الأُخْرَى حَتَّى يُصْلِحَهُ.
Muhammad bin Salam told us, he said: Abu Muawiyah told us, on the authority of Al-Amash, on the authority of Abu Razin, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, who said: I saw him hitting his forehead with his hand and says: O people of Iraq, do you claim that I am lying to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace? حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ الْبَرَاءِ قَالَ: مَرَّ بِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الصَّامِتِ، فَأَلْقَيْتُ لَهُ كُرْسِيًّا، فَجَلَسَ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: إِنَّ ابْنَ زِيَادٍ قَدْ أَخَّرَ الصَّلاَةَ، فَمَا تَأْمُرُ؟ فَضَرَبَ فَخِذِي ضَرْبَةً، أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ: حَتَّى أَثَّرَ فِيهَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ كَمَا سَأَلْتَنِي، فَضَرَبَ فَخِذِي كَمَا ضَرَبْتُ فَخِذَكَ، فَقَالَ: صَلِّ الصَّلاَةَ لِوَقْتِهَا، فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَ مَعَهُمْ فَصَلِّ، وَلاَ تَقُلْ: قَدْ صَلَّيْتُ، فلا أُصَلِّي.
Abu Muammar told us, he said: Abd al-Warith told us, he said: Ayoub bin Abi Tamimah told us, on the authority of Abu Al-Aliyah Al-Bara’, he said: He passed by me Abdullah bin Al-Samit, so I threw a chair for him, and he sat down, so I said to him: Ibn Ziyad had delayed the prayer, so what do you command? حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ انْطَلَقَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي رَهْطٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ قِبَلَ ابْنِ صَيَّادٍ، حَتَّى وَجَدُوهُ يَلْعَبُ مَعَ الْغِلْمَانِ فِي أُطُمِ بَنِي مَغَالَةَ، وَقَدْ قَارَبَ ابْنُ صَيَّادٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْحُلُمَ، فَلَمْ يَشْعُرْ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ظَهْرَهُ بِيَدِهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَتَشْهَدُ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللهِ؟ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ: أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ رَسُولُ الأُمِّيِّينَ، قَالَ ابْنُ صَيَّادٍ: فَتَشْهَدُ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللهِ؟ فَرَصَّهُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ثُمَّ قَالَ: آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِابْنِ صَيَّادٍ: مَاذَا تَرَى؟ فَقَالَ ابْنُ صَيَّادٍ: يَأْتِينِي صَادِقٌ وَكَاذِبٌ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم: خُلِّطَ عَلَيْكَ الأَمْرُ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم: إِنِّي خَبَّأْتُ لَكَ خَبِيئًا، قَالَ: هُوَ الدُّخُّ، قَالَ: اخْسَأْ فَلَمْ تَعْدُ قَدْرَكَ، قَالَ عُمَرُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَتَأْذَنُ لِي فِيهِ أَنْ أَضْرِبَ عُنُقَهُ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم: إِنْ يَكُ هُوَ لاَ تُسَلَّطُ عَلَيْهِ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُ هُوَ فَلاَ خَيْرَ لَكَ فِي قَتْلِهِ.
Abu Al-Yaman told us, he said: Shuaib told us, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Salim bin Abdullah, that Abdullah bin Omar told him that Omar bin Al-Khattab set out with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, in a group of his companions before Ibn Sayyad, until they found him playing with the boys in Utm. Am I the Messenger of God? He looked at him and said: I bear witness that you are the Messenger of the illiterate. Ibn Sayyad said: So you bear witness that I am the Messenger of God? The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, looked at him and said: I believe in God and His Messenger. Then he said to Ibn Sayyad: What do you see? Ibn Sayyad said: He will come to me. A truthful and a liar. The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: You have become confused. The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: Indeed, I have hidden something hidden for you. He said: It is the dukh. He said: Be humiliated and you are no longer worthy of your destiny. Omar said: O Messenger of God, do you give me permission to behead him? So the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said. And he said: If it is him, do not have power over him, but if it is not him, then there is no good for you in killing him.

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad # 41/959
حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا كَانَ جُنُبًا، يَصُبُّ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ ثَلاَثَ حَفَنَاتٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ: أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ، إِنَّ شَعْرِي أَكْثَرُ مِنْ ذَاكَ، قَالَ: وَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ عَلَى فَخِذِ الْحَسَنِ فَقَالَ: يَا ابْنَ أَخِي، كَانَ شَعْرُ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَكْثَرَ مِنْ شَعْرِكَ وَأَطْيَبَ.
Musa told us, he said: Wahib told us, he said: Ja`far told us, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Jabir, who said: Whenever the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was in a state of ritual water, he would pour On his head were three handfuls of water. Al-Hasan bin Muhammad said: Abu Abdullah, my hair is longer than that. He said: And he struck With his hand on Al-Hasan’s thigh, he said: O son of my brother, the hair of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, was more abundant and better than your hair.

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: صُرِعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ فَرَسٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ عَلَى جِذْعِ نَخْلَةٍ، فَانْفَكَّتْ قَدَمُهُ، فَكُنَّا نَعُودُهُ فِي مَشْرُبَةٍ لِعَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، فَأَتَيْنَاهُ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا، فَصَلَّيْنَا قِيَامًا، ثُمَّ أَتَيْنَاهُ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي الْمَكْتُوبَةَ قَاعِدًا، فَصَلَّيْنَا خَلْفَهُ قِيَامًا، فَأَوْمَأَ إِلَيْنَا أَنِ اقْعُدُوا، فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلاَةَ قَالَ: إِذَا صَلَّى الإِمَامُ قَاعِدًا فَصَلُّوا قُعُودًا، وَإِذَا صَلَّى قَائِمًا فَصَلُّوا قِيَامًا، وَلاَ تَقُومُوا وَالإِمَامُ قَاعِدٌ كَمَا تَفْعَلُ فَارِسُ بِعُظَمَائِهِمْ.
Musa told us, he said: Abu Awanah told us, on the authority of Al-A’mash, on the authority of Abu Sufyan, on the authority of Jabir, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was struck by a mare. He was sitting, so we prayed standing, then we came to him again while he was praying the obligatory prayer sitting, so we prayed behind him standing, and he motioned to us to sit. When he finished the prayer, he said: If the imam prays sitting, then pray sitting, and if he prays standing, then pray standing, and do not stand. The imam was sitting, as Persia does with its great leaders.

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad # 41/961
قَالَ: وَوُلِدَ لِفُلاَنٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ غُلامٌ، فَسَمَّاهُ مُحَمَّدًا، فَقَالَتِ الأنْصَارُ: لا نُكَنِّيكَ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ. حَتَّى قَعَدْنَا فِي الطَّرِيقِ نَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ، فَقَالَ: جِئْتُمُونِي تَسْأَلُونِي عَنِ السَّاعَةِ؟ قُلْنَا: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: مَا مِنْ نَفْسٍ مَنْفُوسَةٍ، يَأْتِي عَلَيْهَا مِئَةُ سَنَةٍ، قُلْنَا: وُلِدَ لِفُلاَنٍ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ غُلاَمٌ فَسَمَّاهُ مُحَمَّدًا، فَقَالَتِ الأنْصَارُ: لا نُكَنِّيكَ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ، قَالَ: أَحْسَنَتِ الأَنْصَارُ، سَمُّوا بِاسْمِي، ولا تَكْتَنُوا بِكُنْيَتِي.
He said: A boy was born to so-and-so from the Ansar, and he named him Muhammad. The Ansar said: We do not call you the Messenger of God. Until we sat on the road asking him about The Hour. He said: Have you come to me to ask me about the Hour? We said: Yes. He said: There is not a single soul upon which He will come. A hundred years ago, we said: A boy was born to so-and-so from the Ansar and he named him Muhammad. The Ansar said: We will not call you the Messenger of God. He said: Well done. Ansar, call me by my name, and do not conceal my nickname.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مَرَّ فِي السُّوقِ دَاخِلاً مِنْ بَعْضِ الْعَالِيَةِ وَالنَّاسُ كَنَفَيْهِ، فَمَرَّ بِجَدْيٍ أَسَكَّ، فَتَنَاوَلَهُ فَأَخَذَ بِأُذُنِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَيُّكُمْ يُحِبُّ أَنَّ هَذَا لَهُ بِدِرْهَمٍ؟ فَقَالُوا: مَا نُحِبُّ أَنَّهُ لَنَا بِشَيْءٍ، وَمَا نَصْنَعُ بِهِ؟ قَالَ: أَتُحِبُّونَ أَنَّهُ لَكُمْ؟ قَالُوا: لاَ، قَالَ ذَلِكَ لَهُمْ ثَلاَثًا، فَقَالُوا: لاَ وَاللَّهِ، لَوْ كَانَ حَيًّا لَكَانَ عَيْبًا فِيهِ أَنَّهُ أَسَكُّ، وَالأَسَكُّ: الَّذِي لَيْسَ لَهُ أُذُنَانِ، فَكَيْفَ وَهُوَ مَيِّتٌ؟ قَالَ: فَوَاللَّهِ، لَلدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنُ عَلَى اللهِ مَنْ هَذَا عَلَيْكُمْ.
Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah told us, he said: Al-Darawardi told me, on the authority of Ja’far, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Jabir bin Abdullah, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace He passed through the market, entering from some high street, and the people were around him, so he passed by an Asak kid, so he took it and touched it by his ear, then He said: Which of you likes that this is his for a dirham? They said: We do not like that it is ours for anything, and what do we do with it? He said: Do you like that it is ours? For you? They said: No. He said that to them three times, and they said: No, by God. If he had been alive, there would have been a defect in him because he was sluggish, and sluggish: the one who He has no ears, so how come he is dead? He said: By God, this world is easier for God than this is for you.

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عُتَيِّ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ عِنْدَ أُبَيٍّ رَجُلاً تَعَزَّى بِعَزَاءِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، فَأَعَضَّهُ أُبَيٌّ وَلَمْ يُكْنِهِ، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ أَصْحَابُهُ، قَالَ: كَأَنَّكُمْ أَنْكَرْتُمُوهُ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي لاَ أَهَابُ فِي هَذَا أَحَدًا أَبَدًا، إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ: مَنْ تَعَزَّى بِعَزَاءِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَأَعِضُّوهُ وَلا تَكْنُوهُ.
Uthman al-Mu’adhdhin narrated to us, he said: Awf narrated to us, on the authority of al-Hasan, on the authority of Utai ibn Damra, who said: I saw with my father a man who was being consoled by a mourner. During the pre-Islamic era, my father bit him but he did not eat him, so his companions looked at him and said: It is as if you denied him? Then he said: I am not afraid of him. This is absolutely no one. I heard the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, say: Whoever is consoled by the condolences of the pre-Islamic era, be kind to him and do not be proud of him.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: خَدِرَتْ رِجْلُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ: اذْكُرْ أَحَبَّ النَّاسِ إِلَيْكَ، فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ.
Abu Nu`aym told us, he said: Sufyan told us, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, on the authority of Abd al-Rahman ibn Sa`d, he said: She drugged Ibn Umar’s leg, so he said A man told him: Mention the people most beloved to you, and he said: O Muhammad.
